D-Line Safe-D Fast Fit, Fire Rated Fixings
New fire safety regulations state that ALL wiring systems in a fire escape route must now be fitted with fire resistant fixings. The reason for the change is to minimise the risk of any cables dropping during the early stages of a fire, so eliminating the hazard of entangling either people trying to evacuate the building, or firefighters tackling the blaze. The amendments require all responsible persons (building design team/ installers) to ensure that ALL types of cables, including electrical power/switching, IT/data, fire/security alarm, emergency lighting, TV coaxial and any telecoms are no longer secured using plastic clips or plastic trunking alone without sufficient fire resisting (steel) fixings. This also means you are no longer able to use just plastic wall plugs, that may melt and fail in the event of a fire or even stainless steel cable ties that will fail at 538°C.
To provide assurance and peace of mind, all D-Line Safe-D® products have been certified by Exova Warringtonfire.
Tests confirmed that all products can hold cables secure in temperatures of 930ºC (+40 -0ºC) for 2 hours at a voltage of 500V rms, while maintaining their circuit integrity. And Safe-D® products withstand required levels of shock, vibration and water spray. Copies of reports are available on request.
