We are excited to announce the launch of our brand new website.
As you will notice, the new-look site has had a fresh make-over in the design and layout of pages, and has also received a lot of work behind-the-scenes on the structure, making the navigation much clearer and simpler for you.
The update also includes the implementation of customer pricing. This means that CMS trade account customers will now be able to receive their trade pricing online for the first time. No longer will you have to wait to speak to a member of our sales team to place an order – orders can be made during out-of-office hours and at your convenience.
The updated site is also mobile responsive, so you are now able to easily order products on-the-go.
Alongside this, some new and exciting functions have been added, including the option to request a quote, leave reviews for products and to ask advice with the new ‘ask us a question’ ability.
We hope you like the changes and if you have any feedback, please let us know.
CMS held a seminar for customers on ‘An Insight into Infrastructure Solutions’ at The Belfry in the West Midlands last Thursday 6th October. Customers were invited to listen to speakers from Corning, Eaton and Fluke Networks.
James Dietrich (UK Sales Manager) and Tony Robinson (EMEA Marketing Manager) spoke about Corning’s leading expertise in Fibre, and how they are intent on innovation to keep their Fibre to the highest specification. In particular, emphasis was put on Corning’s EDGE and EDGE8 solutions, demonstrating to the attendees the benefits in high density fibre optic cabling, especially for data centre solutions.
Customers were also made aware about Corning’s shielded Copper solution, specifically for Cat 5e, 6 and 6a in the LAN & Data Centre environment. Corning Copper cable is flame retardant, easy to deploy, and needs no tools to unwind. The Corning Copper solution is available at CMS for extremely good prices, click here to be taken to the solution page.
Eaton based their presentation on their Power Management and Racks. Gary Bowdler (Business Development Manager) began by speaking about Eaton’s Power Management solutions for small and medium Datacentres. When speaking about the Rack Mounted 5PX UPS, Gary drew attention to the performance and efficiency of the UPS which boasts up to 99% efficiency. The ranges of UPS’ are specifically designed for Virtualized IT environments and with new virtual environments and cloud computing, IT managers are facing new challenges. With unmatched ‘evolution’ capabilities, the 9PX UPS is already future-proof.
In reference to the RE Series Racks, Gary highlighted the main features and accessibility of the racks. The RE Series accommodates both vertical and horizontal cable management giving the customer the option to manage their Data Centre in the most efficient way possible. Eaton brought along a RE Series 27U rack to show customers just how accessible the rack is, and how it is made specifically to make the installers life easier. Recently CMS ran a competition alongside HellermannTyton, where customers had to guess how many HellermannTyton GST jacks were in a jar. The prize for guessing the correct number was a GoPro Hero 4. The competition received a great response from customers, with lots of people all entering to be in with a chance of winning.
CMS are pleased to announce that the winner of the competition was Stephen Williams from MLR Networks Ltd based in Widnes, Cheshire. He correctly guessed that there were 51 GST jacks in the jar.
Congratulations Stephen, we hope you enjoy your GoPro!

On Thursday 14th July 2016, CMS were invited along to the Norbain North Road Show in Bolton. The event took place at the Macron Stadium, home of Bolton Wanderers football club and was run by CMS’ sister-company Norbain. The aim was to bring IFSEC to the North with over 40 key vendors from the security and data communications market in attendance.
CMS were represented on the day by Paul Axtell (National Sales Manager) and our newest recruit, Leo Wild (Area Sales Manager – North). We were also supported by representatives from two of our key vendors; Commscope and Dymo, (both had their own stands) who were both keen to demonstrate their products to a new audience.
The event was very well attended with a large number of visitors, all of whom were potential, new customers for CMS. The day provided some great new opportunities, generating sales leads from both the North and The Midlands.
Here are some pictures from the day…
On Wednesday 29th June 2016, we invited a group of our customers to join us at the HellermannTyton head office in Northampton for a Technology Update seminar.
Representatives from both CMS and HelllermannTyton were on hand to present a range of interesting topics to the customers who were present. The main aim was to provide these attendees with an overview of where the industry currently stands and introduce the latest technologies and standards (from Category 8 to IEEE 802.3bm/IEEE 802.3bz). Those in attendance were also informed of how these standards and technologies were relevant to them and how they would (if adopted) prove to be beneficial in the future.
After the presentations, attendees were also offered the opportunity of a factory tour at the Northampton site. The tour gave customers the chance to see behind-the-scenes the manufacturing process of HellermannTyton products (a rare view, as HellermannTyton is only one of a few cabling manufacturers with a UK based factory).
Overall the seminar proved to be very successful with a large number of CMS customers in attendance. The event received a lot of great, positive feedback.
Paul Axtell (National Sales Manager, CMS) commented, “The day was very well attended with a mixture of end users and installation companies from the Midlands and the South East. The content of the presentation was delivered very professionally by Jason James, HellermannTyton’s Technical Director and was relevant to everyone in the room. The whole day was planned and organised with the help of Karen Miller who made sure everyone was well looked after. All in all it was a great day and nice to catch up with some existing customers as well as meeting some new faces.”
Karen Miller (Channel Manager, HellermannTyton) added, “We thought the HellermannTyton Technology day with CMS was a big success. There was a lot of interest in the event and the attendance reflected that. It provided a great platform to discuss new technologies, and build relationships among the group. We certainly look forward to taking part in more events with CMS in the future.”
On 12th and 13th April members of the CMS team headed up to the Excel in London to take part in the world’s largest, most influential gathering of data centre expertise - Data Centre World 2016.
Joining CMS on the stand this year were two of our prominent brands - Ideal Networks and Assynia.
Gordon White (a representative from Ideal) was on hand both days providing product demonstrations and invaluable advice to prospective customers. He brought with him the full range of Ideal testers, ranging from Data Cable, Network and Telecom/ Enterprise testers. It is with their wide range of testers, that Ideal aim to provide connected products and services which simplify, demystify and improve the productivity of those installing, testing and maintaining network cabling and devices.
Geoff Day our CMS Technical Manager acted as a representative for Assynia and was able to not only inform the interested delegates about the key benefits of the Assynia solution, but also demonstrate them with an example cabinet on the stand.
The event proved to be a great success with many delegates keen to find out more about CMS and the products and brands available. It was a great day with lots of new business leads and an array of friendly faces.
CMS would like to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved in Data Centre World 2016 (from the people who helped to plan the event, deliver the stand and to those who were on their feet all day).
Here are some pictures of the big, yellow CMS stand at Data Centre World…
